Gymnastics England is dedicated to providing equality of opportunity within the sport of Gymnastics. As an organisation Gymnastics England is committed to the Equality Standard Framework, a framework developed by the four home country Sports Councils, UK Sport and equality organisations.

Gymnastics England believes that everyone is entitled to be treated fairly regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, parental or marital status, disability, religion, colour, race, ethnic or national origins, or socio/economic background.

Gymnastics England achieved the Foundation Level of the Equality Standards in 2006 and are working towards the Preliminary Standard along with British Gymnastics for submission in June 2008.

The Gymnastics England Equality Action Plan 2008-2009 sets out some of the work that will take place this year to enable us to better understand the barriers to participation for our sport and how these can be addressed.

An Equality Task Group was established in July 2007, made up of Gymnastics England development staff and partners, to initiate and monitor projects designed to find out more about barriers that exist and ways to overcome these barriers in the areas of; Gymnastics for people with disabilities; Women and Girls; Black Minority Ethnic groups. The accompanying Case Study cards highlight several projects carried out across England and aim to act as an information resource for Clubs, Coaches and Key Partners.
